forgiving – Experiences, Thoughts, and Feelings of a Latter Day Saint (LDS) http://www.curtismorley.net Mon, 16 Jun 2014 22:46:30 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.6.7 Sabbath Learning – Forgiveness http://www.curtismorley.net/2012/05/06/sabbath-learning-forgiveness/ Sun, 06 May 2012 20:06:00 +0000 http://www.curtismorley.net/?p=376 “Holding a grudge is like drinking poison and expecting someone else to die.”

Today I am in Denver, and in Elders Quorum we reviewed Elder Uchtdorf’s talk entitled “The Merciful Obtain Mercy” which talks about forgiveness of others and ourselves. What a beautiful talk.

Some of the golden nuggets of thought that really stuck out to me are after the break.

When our hearts are filled with the love of God, we become “kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving.”

“…remember the words of the One who is our Master and model: “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone.”

“Don’t judge me because I sin differently than you.”

The people around us are not perfect. People do things that annoy, disappoint, and anger. In this mortal life it will always be that way.

Nevertheless, we must let go of our grievances. Part of the purpose of mortality is to learn how to let go of such things. That is the Lord’s way.
Remember, heaven is filled with those who have this in common: They are forgiven. And they forgive.
